The unbeaten Princeton football team made a jump in both FCS polls after its 21-10 win over Columbia Saturday.
The Tigers are now ranked 19th in the AFCA Coaches’ poll after being 23rd last week and ranked 21st in the STATS FCS poll after being 25th a week ago. Princeton next plays Friday night at 7 when it hosts Lafayette, coached by former Princeton wide receiver John Garrett.
There are currently five unbeaten teams in the FCS, three of whom are Ivy League teams, as 3-0 Yale and Dartmouth are lurking just outside the national top 25 in both polls in advance of their meeting Saturday in Hanover. The other two FCS unbeatens are North Dakota State and Villanova.
Princeton ranks in the top five nationally in 18 different statistical categories, including being first in among others completion percentage, fewest penalties, fewest penalty yards, fewest fumbles lost and fewest turnovers lost.
Kevin Davidson continues to lead the FCS in both completion percentage and average yards per attempt, and he is now second in the nation in passing efficiency rating and fifth in passing yards per game.
Junior defensive lineman Samuel Wright leads the Ivy League and is fifth in the FCS in sacks per game.
The Princeton-Lafayette game can be seen nationally on ESPNU. It is Princeton’s final non-league game of the season.
