Coming off their fourth Ivy League championship in the last eight season, the Princeton University football team has been chosen to once again be among the top contenders for the Ancient Eight crown, coming in a close third in the Ivy League’s Preseason Media Poll.
The Tigers garnered four of the 16 first place votes and 105 points overall to rank third. Harvard (eight first place votes) and Dartmouth (four first place votes) were tied for first overall with 108 points. Yale was fourth, collecting 83 points.
“We are excited to once again be talking football and feeling the energy as preseason begins,” said Charles W. Caldwell Jr.’25 Head Coach of Football Bob Surace ’90. “There are eight teams around the League who have high expectations this year and think they have a chance to be in the top spot when the season ends in November. Our focus right now is on preparing for the challenges that await us this coming year, and making sure we have done everything possible to give our student-athletes their opportunity to win games and add to our program’s legacy.”
The Tigers return six All-Ivy selections from last season, led by first-team All-Ivy honorees Henry Byrd, Carson Bobo and Will Powers as well as Andrei Iosivas (second team), Uche Ndukwe (second team) and Dylan Classi (honorable mention).
Iosivas was recently named a second-team Preseason All-American by Phil Steele, Powers was a third-team Preseason All-American by the same publication.
The Tigers open the 2022 season at Stetson on September 17 before returning to Princeton Stadium for the home opener on September 24 against Lehigh (3 p.m.). Season Tickets, Group Tickets, and Individual Tickets to Princeton Football are on sale now at GoPrincetonTigers.com/Tickets!
