RYAN BUTLER NAMED JERRY RICE AWARD FINALIST

PRINCETON – After a banner freshman campaign,Β Ryan ButlerΒ has been named a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award, Stats Perform announced today.

The Stats Perform 2022 Jerry Rice Award is presented to the national freshman of the year inΒ college football’s Division I subdivision. The Rice Award, now in its 12th season, is named after legendary wide receiver Jerry Rice, who starred at Mississippi Valley State as part of his Hall of Fame career. Past recipients include NFL players Cooper Kupp, Chase Edmonds and Trey Lance.

Butler added 501 yards rushing, 87 yards receiving and 12 total touchdowns. The Tiger set the program freshman rushing touchdown record, scoring in eight games. He had four games with at least 60 yards including 98 vs. Brown in a win.
