Travis and Johnson Named Phil Steele FCS Preseason All-Americans

PRINCETON – Jalen Travis (second team) and Liam Johnson (fourth team) were named Phil Steele FCS Preseason All-Americans, the organization announced today.

Travis was recently added to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list this month. The senior was second-team All-Ivy in 2022 while also adding Phil Steele and Blue Bloods Second-Team All-Ivy. He was a starter on the offensive line that helped Princeton post the Ivy’s No. 1 passing offense and No. 2 scoring offense last year.

Johnson co-won the Bushnell Cup for Ivy Defensive Player of the Year in 2022. The rising senior led Princeton and ranked fourth in the Ivy League in tackles (90). A former Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, Johnson averaged 13 tackles per game over the final two weeks of the season and scored two touchdowns during the year, including a 92-yard fumble return against Penn. He averaged 9.9 tackles per Ivy League game, the third-best mark in the league.

Johnson is the 14th Princeton winner of the Bushnell Cup in program history and gave the Tigers back-to-back defensive honorees as Jeremiah Tyler won it in 2021. He’s the eighth Princeton player since 2012 to earn the conference’s highest accolade.

The Phil Steele magazine also released its Preseason All-Ivy honors with eight Tigers making the list.
